Known as a "player/coach", with core expertise in data science, natural language, machine learning, cloud computing; 35+ years tech industry experience, ranging from Bell Labs to early-stage start-ups. Co-chair for Rev conference, former co-chair for JupyterCon. Advisor for NYU Coleridge Initiative, IBM Data Science Community, Amplify Partners, Recognai, Primer AI, Data Spartan. Previous roles: Director, Learning Group at O'Reilly Media and Director, Community Evangelism for Apache Spark. Author of Fifty Years of Data Management and Beyond, Just Enough Math, Enterprise Data Workflows with Cascading, and co-editor for the upcoming Rich Search and Discovery for Research Datasets. Cited among "Top 30 People in Big Data and Analytics" by Innovation Enterprise in 2015.
